X'mas + New Year Gathering

2010 Christmas, my tasau had a gathering. We had a feast and a delicious turkey!

And yesterday, my papa organized a New Year gathering. It was in a bak kut teh restaurant (Klang people wat.. XD) and then a second round in mamak stall. A total of 40 members, 9 tables, 8 families and 3 generations. I know, we're amazing. Lol.

Look, this is what I discovered. They're my nieces.. Cassandra aged 3 and Emerald, aged 6.

Kids nowadays... Lol.

Merry Christmas!

It's the 23rd of December today. And I just got back from my lab, still working on my final year project. Even tomorrow, Christmas eve, I'll still be here in Kampar, going to lab. Not only it's Christmas, it's December! The holiday season! And not only it's December, it's my sem break!! Geez!

I'm still not getting the desired result so, I'll guess I'll stay this entire sem till next year. Great way to start a new year.

Anyway, I found this amazing occurrence in my lab incubator today. Look! It's not man-made. It occurred naturally and no one actually noticed. Life is amazing, isn't?

Just in case you don't know, they are bacteria. Not the design of the container. Looks like snowflakes, yes? Even the bacteria are celebrating Christmas this year!

Merry Christmas All!

Happy 2010!

Well, I did not went for countdown or anything but I counted down with my nieces at home with a few cans of cincau drink. And from where we stood, we were able to watch fireworks colour the black sky from almost all angles. It's very simple, probably something some might even not consider as counting down or celebrating new year but hey, guess what? I toasted a can of beer with my dad! :D

Happy New Year, everyone!

2009 Has Arrive!

For the first time in my 19 years of life, I welcomed year 2009 with style grandly. I went for a public countdown!

I used to think that count down was nothing special and in fact, kind of illogical of how people spray artificial snow at each other, run around and chase each other.

The devils!

Until yesterday, I went to Bukit Bintang for countdown along with Guat Shan, BK, my sis, Ms. Lam, Kenji, Khai Chiah, Ah Kong, Wei Chyi and Ah Ken. I still think it's a little illogical but I think I know why now. It's fun, in a way.

The army!

People who you don't know, you never met before, will 'attack' you and 'wish' you new year. It was a good thing we went in a big group- we have a good number of soldiers to 'counter attack'. Lol.

2008, overall, was a good year for me. I'm still not used to the fact that it is already 2009. A new year means I'm a year older but I think (and I'm sure everyone else does) I'm still very childish. I need to grow up ^^;

Can you see the 'snow'?

My new year resolution? Well, I never thought of it. So, now I'm going to randomly come up with resolutions which first appear in my mind.

1. Better grades for my studies (better still, get a scholarship).
2. Grow taller or at least look taller XD
3. Lose some weight.
4. Good relationship with everyone, friends and family.
5. Find new interest!
6. Visit more places.
7. Reduce environmental pollution (like advice someone if s/he attempt to throw rubbish out of the car window. So, I'm advising you now. Don't throw anything out of your car window and throw rubbish only into rubbish bins, not drains.)
8. Money!

Okay. I think I'll stop there. Have a great year ahead!

P/s : I hope Manchester United wins EPL again this season.

Merry Christmas!

If you didn't receive any present this year, that's because there weren't enough reindeers to pull Santa's cart. Apparently, two of them were slacking off.

That's my niece, Cassandra. It took a lot of effort to snap this photo because she was running (more like walking since she just learned to walk) around and all other photos taken made her looks like The Flash. And yes, I know she's cute. It's in the Loo family genes to be cute *points at self* LOL! Ok, that was a joke. Oh, just in case you didn't notice, she was wearing Santa's hat ^^

Ho Ho Ho everyone! :)

Welcoming Mr. Winter!

It's my favourite Chinese festival today! Yes! The 'ee kia' festival a.k.a. 'tong yuen' festival.

Bon apetite!

Every year since 3 years ago, I'll make something out of the tong yuens instead of just spheres. What I make depends on my current interest that time, whatever appears in my mind or just some random shapes.

3 years ago, I made a snowman. It's just something that pop-ed up in my mind while I was helping my mom to make them.

2 years ago, it was Orange Range! I was so crazy over them, I made the logo.

Sadly, last year I wasn't at home to make them but my family came over to Kampar to make them for my housemates and I. I did post that up. Check the archive under November 2007, if you're interested.

This year, however, it's my wish! Here's a hint.

Can't see it? Have a close-up look.

I'm not that selfish, I'm sharing this wish with everyone who needs a 4.0. And I'm so kind to help you guys eat it. Lol!

Happy eating! Don't choke! :)

The Dids' On CNY

It's the 5th day of Chinese New Year and since I took quite a number of pictures during this festival, lets have a look on what I did during the New Year.

My 2 of my favourite nieces. Somehow it feels like I'm more of their elder sister instead of an aunt. And oh, that's earthworm gummy bears sticking out of our mouth. We just love that candy.

One the right, it's Joellle and the one in pink is Emerald. I notice that she's quite a poser. And I mean it. Her poses are beyond what normal 3 year old can do.

Of course, there's always friend's house visiting. First house was Ah Jin's house. He's a friend from my university. Oh~ I love the grand piano.

Second place was Ah Wei's. Kind of, you know, touched(?) to receive ang pow from her dad when her family wasn't supposed to give out ang pows since her gradma passed away not long ago.

Followed by Sito's place. Her brother claimed that he's a professional camera man. You judge based on the pic he took above :P

Next up, Calesta's place. I would say it's most unexpected to visit her house since I've never visited this place before. She messaged me one night and invited me over for lunch!

And I've also met my old school friend in Calesta's house. The picture above was me and Sze Lyn, a girl from my school who shares the same birthday as me. Finally meet her after 2 years!

Finally, my house. We gambled and all. But before my place was Guat Shan's place. Guess we've forgotten to snap a pic over there.

Also, I've managed to snap a few pic of my newest niece, Cassandra, my er ker and er sau's daughter. Kawaii, ne? ^^

The firework caught on camera. Pic taken on New Year eve.

I haven't counted how much I got from the ang pows' this year. Let's hope it's more than last year. Haha!

Chinese New Year Decorations

I was given a task to decorate the house for Chinese New Year. Usually the decorating job is done by my mom and I'll only help around but since my mom started working, I was asked to help to decorate the house.

This year, I get to decorate the house all by myself and according to my own liking. Yeah! My plans are actually writing calligraphy, make handicraft from old ang pow packets, hang those decorative 'stuff ' (whatever you call it) and anything that I can think of at that moment, that is Chinese New Year related.

This is the result from a one day work.

I bought this pair of Vietnamese lantern all the way from Kampar just to receive a negative comment from my mom. Sheesh.. She didn't know how much trouble I went through to get these lanterns. I bought them because I thought they were pretty and I haven't seen them in Klang. I thought it might be wonderful to have them this new year. They're unique, pretty and classy, aren't they? Thank God there's at least someone who shared the same opinion as me though. My ta sau love them ^^

'Fu'. Please ignore the person behind. She's desperate to get into the camera.

The calligraphy I wrote using marker pens. I wrote 2 Chinese characters actually- 'Fu' (fortune) and 'Lu' (prosperity). They looked somehow ugly and retarded but hey, considering the fact that I can't read or write Chinese characters, this is, I would say, a success. Way to go, Eliza! But to be truthful, I'm not really satisfy with them and maybe I'll write better ones. Of course, it all depends on my mood XD

This is my personal favourite. They're called Mystical Knots. I don't really know the meaning behind these knots but I think they're simple and nice. Mystical Knots are usually small and hand knitted but these are the larger version of those little knots. And maybe because of the size, they gave me the image of hotels. Hotels like Mandrin Oriental Hotel, to boot.

The decorative 'stuff' I was talking about.

Of course, there must be lanterns and fire crackers during Chinese New Year.

2 hanging 'fu' s above the 'fu lu shou'.

That's all I did the whole day today but there are more decoration to be done. I haven't hang up the big fire crackers, decorate the plants and make the whole house more 'red'. The next thing I might do is to change the curtains. It's Chinese New Year and the curtains are green!

Christmas 2007

This year is the first time ever I spend Christmas with my friends only. And it was FABULOUS!! Since it's Christmas after all, there should be presents. So, this post will be solely on the presents received.

First present rece
ived from Kenji- a Totoro and a Christmas socks.

Second present from my 'cousin', Loo Keng Hooi- a 1000 pieces horoscope puzzle.

Third present received from Jun- a cute Christmas socks attached with a picture of me and Guat Shan.

Fourth, present from Ken- a pair of pink PDI socks with 6 Ferrero Rochers.

Fifth, from Joe- a bottle of special Disney body lotion that I haven't seen before.

Sixth, from Robert- a Keroro with an ELIZA bracelet.

Seventh, present from Sito- a Gemini keychain and a pair of cow mugs.

Eighth, from Leon- a Manchester United jersey pillow with Tevez 32.

Ninth, from Ah Wei- an orange photo frame and a cow CD bag.

Tenth, present from Guat Shan- a handbag with an E keychain.

This Christmas is indeed one of the best Christmas I've ever celebrated partly because of the presents. I've never received so many Christmas presents before and I LOVE PRESENTS! Plus, not to forget, thanks so much for all the presents! They are the best ever! Thanks buds! Love you guys!

Merry Christmas!

Halloween Night

Last night, my house mates and I attended a Halloween gathering organized by well, a group of Sarawakian friends. Well, since it was Halloween and we've just sat for our Mathematics paper that noon, why not attend and have some fun, right?

There were about 21 of us attended the mini gathering. Mini but fun! After our Maths paper, we went home and rest for a bit then Michelle came and guide us to the Sarawakian's house. All of us gathered there and walked to the venue, which happened to be a 'lonely' restaurant. It was the ONLY opened shop
in that area.

The only restaurant.. no shop available in that area.

Initially, I felt somewhat awkward because though we're from the same lecture, but we weren't very close. But thank God there're still a few that I can talk to like my house mates, Ken, Joe etc. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the first thought that came to my mind was 'The food is definitely not enough.' But no, it was far more than enough. The aunty kept refilling the empty plates after that.

Yummm..

Since Robert (one of the Sarawakian) booked the place earlier, the aunty prepared everything before we arrived. Everything except the utensils. We have to arrange everything by ourselves. This the the first time ever I visit a restaurant where only food is prepared. You'll have to settle the others yourself.

Robert arranging the utensils.

When it came to the eating part, well, we ate. I would say Robert is a very good organizer. He kept walking around making sure we eat properly, our food is not uncooked or overcooked. We chatted, ate, chatted, drank, laught, ate. The interesting part was teaching Ken and Joe Japanese. It was hillarious! The words spoken, the slang implied, the expression portrait, they were all so hillarious!

My talented Japanese students.

The most important part is.... SNAPPING PHOTOS!

Halloween special- the blacks!

The TE1 representatives.

The majority, TD1.

The playful, TD2.

The only, TD3 (right).

We, who attended.

After eating, we walked back to the Sarawakian's place and resume our activities. Some played cards- 'cho tai tee'.

Kaki judi!!

Some played DOTA..

The calm (front) and not-so-calm (back) players.

The rest of us watched horror movie.

Horror movie on, lights off!

The entire gathering was fun! I managed to talk to people I never talked before and we even talked in Uni today. My impression on certain people who I used to have negative impression on changed. They're actually really nice people.

Trick or Treat?

Happy Halloween!
